Poor Pressy!

This is what I woke up to this morning! She had a few red spots yesterday, very tiny and just a couple, this morning it was everywhere! It was heaviest around her diaper and in her arm pits. This picture was taken with my cell phone and then cropped for obvious reasons so the image isn't great, but I think you get the idea. The poor, poor girl! Like David said (he posted, woo hoo!) its just a virus, we are just giving her infant tylenol and it should be gone soon, its already faded quite a bit. Then the whole unswaddling ordeal... its been a rough day! Oh, and its our anniversary, I think we were too busy to even think about that.

Swaddle Me, NO more!

Hey Folks! It's Daddy T. here! Just wanted to share with you about our little girls taking another step to getting even more grown up, as it happens. Tonight we shed the swaddles and let the girls sleep freely. Lyla has started flipping to her belly in her sleep and with the swaddle this could be bad news. So... off they come and WOW, I had no idea how important those things are for a sleeping baby. This has been one of the hardest nights getting the girls to sleep but I think we finally have them down to stay for the night around 9:45 after completely missing 2 naps @ 530 and 8.
Its pretty cute to watch them sleep unrestricted. Lyla is definitely like daddy when it comes to sleeping. She's all over the place, as you've seen before. Now her arms and legs are going in all directions. Occasionally, she even gets herself on her side or even over to her belly (which, as I mentioned, was the start of this whole issue). Pressley is pretty content laying on her back but she does some wiggling of her own. Sometimes she just throws one leg straight up in the air and leaves it there for about a minute before she puts it back down. Both girls seem to like keeping their fist balled up right in front of their face. The problem with this is they tend to knock there pacifiers out and that's when the crying starts. For us, it then becomes a race to get the pacie back in before they wake their sister.

Well, it's now 10:45 and after an hour of sleeping Lyla hasn't made a peep and Pressley has lost her pacie about 10 times and cried everytime. Thank goodness her sister hasn't been phased by her yet. Since it seems to be going well I think it's about time for me to head to bed myself. I hope you enjoyed my little commentary on night 1 without swaddles. We'll continue to keep you posted and maybe we can work out some pics and video later when things get a little more settled down and back to normal.

By the way, Jo had to take Pressley to the doctor today because a bad rash she had all over. Turns out she has some sort of virus, which could explain how fussy she's been lately. The doctor said she would be fine, we just need to let the virus run it's course. She said we could all catch it from her but it's unlikely that Jo or I would get a rash. Viruses apparently manifest themselves in different ways for different people.

Happy Father's Day to all the Daddies out there (especially our Daddy!).

David, you are the best husband and father a girl could ever hope for! I pray our girls find a man as wonderful as you! It has been awesome watching you take on the role of "father". I know our girls can't really express it yet, but you are going to be their prince and the sparkle in their eye. I love to hear all the plans you have for your girls, daddy/daughter dates, family nights, family vacations, coaching sports, taking them to Braves games, I could go on and on. God has blessed our girls greatly by giving them you as their father! I love you!!

Yes, I have started another blog. This other blog is for ME! I LOVE posting about my girls, few things bring me greater joy than sharing them with you all! But, there are things I'd like to write about, (even if no one reads what I write, its nice to get it out there) that don't really fit on the girlies blog.

We have a roller!!

I put Lyla down for her tummy time today and she promptly rolled over to her back. I thought it was a fluke and put her back on her tummy, she did it again! In fact, I can't keep the girl on her tummy! David and I documented it for you...

Thank you, God, for our friends!

Our dear friends, Candice and Steve came to visit us from Greenville. I met up with them Friday before the Braves game and they stayed the weekend. We had a lot of fun, especially because they have a 3 year old, Rivers and a 2 month old (4 weeks younger than the girlies), Delaney. Having 3 little babies in the house was something else! I'm thankful I only have twins! At least with twins I have one hand per child.

Rivers is a great big brother. My girls LOVED him, especially Pressley. All Rivers had to do was look at Pressley and she broke out into smiles and laughter. It was so cute to watch! He was also very helpful. I stopped to feed the girls while we were walking around the mall and he wanted to help feed. He fed Lyla and did a great job! I miss living near them. They are such precious friends.

Take me out to the ballgame.....

The girls went to their first Braves game this past Friday. Quite a rite of passage in the Turner family. It was a lot of fun, even if the Braves did loose.

Wiggle worm

Here is that little gem I promised! Lyla is the wiggliest sleeper! We put them down in their crib the same way every night, you've seen pictures before. This is how we found them the other morning. I caught her in the act the next morning and she seems to lift her legs and head and pivot on her bootie. Quite a sight to behold!
Her eyes are starting to open because David had to take a few pictures to block out the mobile. But she was sound asleep this way -- they both were.

I LOVE MY HUBBY!!

Look at my BEAUTIFUL new site!! Because I have "widgets" (the fun stuff in the right hand column), I can't just upload a new template -- like Lorren did, check hers out. So he spent about an hour and a half tweaking the HTML code to get it to look like this, isn't it fabulous?!? And, he figured out a way to do it more quickly, so I can change my templates like I change panties, once every other week. Is that funny or a little TMI??

TMI= too much information!!!

What I'm loving about the girlies rigt now

I decided to write this because of my #1 for Pressley. (these are in no particular order).

PRESSLEY
#1. As I write this, Pressley is laying on my chest, we are chest to chest and she is completely swaddled. She is supposed to be finishing her nap (she refused to finish it in her crib). Her neck is getting strong and, although she is supposed to be napping, she has her adorable little head lifted up high and is looking all around the room! Its so amazing to see how much she has grown and developed over the last 3 months. Just 3 short months!

#2. Her big, beautiful blue eyes!

#3. She is going through a stage where she is ALWAYS happy! Finally! She has always been my higher maintenance baby, but for the past week or so she is my most cheerful, she smiled and laughs through everything -- even getting dressed if you can believe that!!

#4. She entertains herself on the changing mat. Its adorable, as soon as I lay her down flat on her back to change her diaper, she starts cooing and talking to herself. She pulls her fists up and just stares and stares. She stares so hard she ends up crossing her eyes. Its wonderful to see her studying her body that way!

#5. She carries on conversations! Ok, not in English, but she conversationally babbles. She will coo and carry on and then pause for me to talk, then when I pause she picks right back up with her cooing.

#6. Her thumb! One of these days she is going to figure that thing out and I bet we'll never be able to get it out of her mouth!!! Although, now that I think about it, she may be a finger sucker, she seems pretty happy with them... which leads me to #7...

#7. She sucks on her fingers so hard she gags herself! To the point of throwing up.

#8. Her rolly poly belly. A-D-O-R-A-B-L-E! And I love the way it looks in her clothes.

#9. She looks at the pictures when we read her a book. She will look from one page to the other taking in all the colors.

#10. The color of her hair in the sun. I never imagined I would have a strawberry blonde baby, I though Lorren might, but I just didn't think I would. I love it!! She gets compliments on her hair color all the time.

LYLA
#1. She is going through a serious stage, sometimes she will just sit there and take it all in, look around the room and just observe. I love watching her do this because I can almost see the wheels in her head turning as she learns.

#2. Her big, beautiful blue eyes!

#3. Bathtime. I've said this before and I'll say it again. The girl LOVES bathtime and is so much fun to watch in the tub, she has figured out when she kicks she splashes. Its great.

#4. She OWNS kickey bear! She totally has it figured out! She knows just what to do to get his nose to light up. Its awesome!

#5. Her hair! How could you not love that crazy hair?!? I can't get it to lay down to save my life. I love it!!

#6. The way she drinks her bottle. She will often close her eyes while she drinks. It seems like she is really focusing on drinking. She stays slow and steady and usually finishes her whole bottle in one sitting, where Pressley will suck some, pull off, look around, suck some more, etc.

#7. She can flip completely upside down in the crib! I don't know how she does it and still manages to stay as close to Pressley as possible. I took a picture of it this morning, I'll post it later.

#8. She loves to snuggle as close to Pressley at night as she can. We usually separate them by about 4 or 5 inches and she will wiggle until they are touching heads, its precious.

#9. Her cry. So, its really a love/hate relationship because I hate it when she cries. But her cry is just so unique! So high pitched and the little faces she makes when she cries is really quite cute. She usually makes me laugh at first -- I know, not the goal of a cry, but I've never seen a baby cry like her before.

#10. Her smile. She makes us work for a smile, not like Pressy who just gives them away, but when you get one, it'll make your heart melt!!

More tummy time

I tried the pics of Lyla again and they turned our fabulous! Katie, you're right, I think I'm thankful the point and shoot broke!! At least for now, I know I will miss it when I'm out and about and want to take a quick picture, its a little hard to lug a digital SLR around with you.
