I'm sorry, Goff Family!

Ok, so I'm not as creative as you may have thought. I totally copied Abby by wishing Savannah a Happy Birthday the way I did. I told my dad where I got the idea! I wasn't trying to be sneaky. I just thought I had time to give Abby credit. You'd think someone traveling around the world on a sailboat wouldn't check my blog as often as she did!

Thanks for the idea, Abby. You're so creative!!

she's here!

Savannah Caroline Varner has arrived!

She was just born around 11 pm. She weighs 7 lbs 13 oz and has a full head of dark hair like Lyla's but curly like Pressley's. We'll post pictures when and if we get some and have permission from the parents.

Welcome to the world, cousin!

Happy Birthday, Savannah!

The girls are hoping their cousin, Savannah is born today... exactly one month after their birthday. Its 10:30 pm now and Lorren is 10cm dialated and pushing, all 3 girls may share the 29th, but Savannah is running out of time! To celebrate...As you can see, Pressley was very upset she didn't get to be there for her cousins birth, so was I!

One Month Old!

I planned on getting a better picture, with both babies awake and in the same outfit. But Lyla had other plans. She went through 5 outfits today! She either spit up or pooped on all of them. And, she slept ALL day long! So, here is what we came up with.

Pressley Sneezing

This is from my cell phone... not the best video, but lets see how it turns out! This morning Pressley was sneezing, there were 2 real ones and you can hear her faking a third.

For you, Uncle Brent

Here is my first attempt at uploading a movie -- per Brent's request -- if this works well I'll do it more often!

This is Lyla wiggling around while sleeping. If you can hear sound -- we're watching Ellen int he background.

I don't know how to rotate the video, so you'll just have to cock your head to the side to enjoy.

Playmat!

First time on their playmat. They actually seemed to enjoy it! Lyla was definitely watching the dangling toys and Pressley watched Lyla.

Nakey Babies...

Growing up already!

I can't believe how much they have changed already! This Saturday will be the 29th -- my girls will be ONE MONTH OLD!! 11 more of those and they'll be a year! Time is passing too quickly already. They have started to really enjoy the ceiling lights, the pictures I have on my wall -- black frame, white mat, black picture with veggies in the middle, very high contrast. Our plaid curtains and their rainforest bouncy seat also really hold their attention.

Here is Lyla in her rainforest bouncy seat. She doesn't appear to actually be looking at the waterfall right now, but you get the idea.
Here is a gorgeous picture of Pressy, look at those big, blue eyes!

Easter

The night before Easter was the worst we've had so far. The girls only allowed us to sleep about an hour total. We didn't make it to church the next morning because we were exhausted and Pressy's cold came back -- ugh! Its amazing we all got dressed in church clothes even though we only got about 4 pictures before Pressy had a blow out diaper on her dress. So, here is what we got.

Sleeping or almost sleeping babies

Basically these girls sleep, eat and poop. You've seen a few eating pictures, and I don't think you want to see the poopie pictures, which means, I have a lot of sleepy baby pictures. So, here they are!!

Aw! Another super cute sleeping picture

Weight Check

Wednesday we went back to the pediatrician for a weight check. Lyla weighed 5.2 at our last weight check, Friday the 7th -- 5 days earlier and Pressley had weighed 6.11. On Wednesday Lyla weighed 5.6 and a half and Pressley weighed a whoppin 7.8! They are doing WONDERFULLY!!!

So, we are seeing some personality coming through... Lyla acts nothing like a newborn, her facial expressions and the way she moves her body is hilarious, she truly seems like she is several months old. Pressley acts more her age -- just loves to be held and cuddled. Most of the pictures we have of her she is in someones arms, she does not like to be put down. It'll be interesting to see if Lyla turns out to be more independent and Pressley more shy and cuddly.

Pressley has also been very sick. She has an awful cold that keeps her awake at night and makes it hard for her to eat -- she can't breathe while drinking. Please pray for her! Its so pitiful. She has been to see the doctor twice -- yes, we are overprotective parents, but can you blame us?!? And there is just nothing we can do right now, she is too young for medicine. So, we use saline drops in her nose which give her temporary relief but the congestion comes back quickly. The fact that shes not feeling well could be why she is so cuddly.

And, what you've all been waiting for, more pictures:
Here are the girls the first time they sat in a boppy seat, they seem to enjoy it, don't they? We have 2 so they can both sit in them at the same time.

Daddy and his girls! Can you tell he didn't get much sleep the night before?

Mommy and her girls! (and Tucker)

Passie babies. They both LOVE them. But I'm beginning to hate them. I especially hate them at 3am when they keep popping in and out of their mouths. We are trying not to use them at night, but sometimes thats what they need to calm down -- especially Pressley, but I'm hoping this is because of her congestion too -- she just wants something to soothe her.

One Week Old!!!

I can't believe its been a week already!! This has been the most wonderful week of my life! Apparently I started getting sick in the hospital and it came on strong when I got home. I went to see a doctor yesterday and he said my chest was very congested and he wanted me to get a chest xray to see if it was phnemonia. I told him I didn't have time now so he prescribed some antibiotics and steroids, all ok to take while breastfeeding and I feel better already! I wish I had more energy so I could have accomplished a little more this week -- I don't know what I would have done without David, my mom and David's mom here! What a blessing! I haven't had to think about anything other than breastfeeding and resting.

These girls are so amazing. I've heard so many women say how in love they fall with their babies and I knew it was true, but am still amazed at how full my heart is!! Everything about being a mommy is overwhelming! Watching David care for our girls absolutely gives me chills! Holding those precious babies against my chest and cuddling them is the best feeling in the world! Even a night time cry is the most beautiful sound -- I get over it quickly, but I still love the sound.

Today we had a follow up appointment with the pediatrician. Lyla weighed an even 5lbs on Wednesday and Pressley weighed 6.9lbs. They had lost too much weight and the doctor put us on a new feeding schedule that included more formula. I want to breastfeed exclusively, which the doctor understands, but right now the most important thing is getting their weight up. Well, they had each gained almost 2 ounces today!! Thats about an ounce a day!!! It worked!! Hearing the new weights was some of the most exciting news ever. I'm so proud of those girls. They are doing so well. We have another weight check scheduled for next Wednesday -- please pray they do even better then!!

Lyla coming home from the hospital:

Pressley, just home from the hospital!

Lyla Chillin:

Pressley's first bath -- you can tell how much she loved it! I have a great picture of Lyla's first bath but her girley parts show and I feel bad posting that on the internet.

Pressley in her new outfit.

Lyla in her Boppy bouncer from Uncey Brenty and Aunt Katie. She loves it here! So does Pressley, it completely calms them down and allows them to sleep.

The best feeling in the world!!! Pressley on my chest, and Lyla on Daddy's.

Close up of the bundle on Daddy's chest. Precious!!

Just this morning -- the girls in a milk coma, they've got bottles laying all over the place! We are just about to stir them up and get them dressed for their pediatrican appointment.
