Mini-update

I know we are behind on updating our blog. We will post a big update with pictures after our trip. Maybe even a new belly picture!!

There is a lot going on in the Turner home right now. We are in Greenville for Thanksgiving and will be leaving for our "babymoon" -- a 7 night cruise to San Juan, St. Thomas and St. Maarten on Saturday. We are so excited about a relaxing week where we can spend time enjoying each others company. We have several baby books packed, hopefully we can get all caught up!

We turned in our notice to our current apartment complex. Please keep praying we aren't penalized for breaking our lease too badly. When we get back from our trip we will hit Dunwoody hard and find a new apartment that is available the end of December -- we will try to move over Christmas/New Years... So, if anyone wants to help, you're MORE than welcome!! :o)

David starts his new job on the 5th of December. His last day at Alston and Bird was yesterday. We are both so excited about his new job! It seems like it will be right up David's alley, plus his co-workers at SBC Systems are much more family oriented, which is great to have in our lives right now.

Everyone have a HAPPY THANKGIVING!!

Lots of love from the Turner Fam.

"BIG" ulstrasound

Yesterday morning we had our "Big" ultrasound, which is where most people find out the sex of the baby. 2 Girls was confirmed once again! They looked perfect! Baby B is a total diva, she wiggled her way in every picture they tried to take of Baby A. We will have to go back for another ultrasound in 3 weeks to take another look at Baby A -- aw shucks! Its so much fun to look at them wiggling around and having a personality, already! Baby B cracked us up, she did everything she could to constantly be on the monitor. Baby B is a little bigger than Baby A which I think is opposite of how it was. The nurse said that was nothing to be concerned about, they will continue to watch their growth and development to make sure they stay right in line with where they should be.

We have new ultrasound photos, we'll try to get them posted sometime next week.

19 Week Belly

How do you like the new glasses??

Tuesday, October 23, 2007

Oh, and half way there?!? Crazy!

Also, can you believe I'm half way there? Since the expected gestation period for twins is only 38 weeks and as of tomorrow I'll be 19 weeks along, I'm at least half way there!! I can't believe it!! I feel like this all just started yesterday. And with the Holidays coming, time is going to FLY by!! Yea!!!!

OOPS... its been too long

SO SORRY, Katie... my only regular. I love the fact that you notice when I don't update the blog! Thank you!!!

Not too much is new. I guess I never officially announced that we KNOW we are having 2 girls. We went in for a routine dr appointment a couple of weeks ago and the midwife wasn't able to distinguish 2 separate heartbeats (because the beats were so close together), so she called for an ultrasound. The tech, Cassie, was the same girl that did our last ultrasound, when she guessed it was 2 girls. When I reminded her of that she said she better double check to make sure she was right, and she was!!

I am feeling the babies wiggling and kicking ALL THE TIME now, its such a wonderful feeling! David hasn't been able to feel them yet as they are not very predictable. I am also having a horrible time with indigestion, so, I guess our girls will have full heads of hair! I can't wait to see them and hold them. Its going to be soooo thrilling.

This past weekend was our first official "baby planning" weekend. David and I started out our day early by garage sale-ing to see if there were any specials out there. No such luck. So then we went to Babies R Us, which is not close to us and we started our registry, which was totally overwhelming!! I keep hearing, you don't need 2 of everything just because you're having twins, but you pretty much do! You don't need 2 of the big things, but you do need double of all the little things, like onesies, towels, bibs, bottles, lotion, etc. So, David and I are now constantly calculating how much we are going to be investing in our babies lives over the next few months. It is overwhelming, but WONDERFUL!

Check our our registry at Babies R Us, and we have one started at Target too... If you check out Target you will see the baby bedding we like. I'm so glad we found something we both like that isn't over $300. Spending $600 on bedding is insane! The one we picked out at Target is only $150 per set. I think thats doable.

Our next ultrasound is this Friday. Its technically our "big" ultrasound (where you find out the sex) but since we already know that, it should be pretty routine. They will look at everything, hands, feet, head, face, heart, etc just to make sure everything looks good. I can't wait! I cherish every opportunity to see them.

Our major big news: Lorren is having a girl too!!! So we will have 3 little girls in the family all within a few weeks!!! I'm so glad our girls are going to have a girl cousin close to their age. It'll be so much fun!!

Baby Belly!!

Just so everyone gets to see where we are at (and not just read about it.)...

Weird Dream I had Last night...

Okay so I haven't posted anything in a while and its not due to a lack of things to say so much as fear in peoples lack of interest in my pointless ramblings.

Last night, however, I had a dream that thought would be fun to share. I'm not sure how it all started but the first thing I remember was being in the hospital getting ready for the babies to arrive (at one point I may have even been the one pregnant and giving birth which was WAY weird). Anyway, like half way through delivery we realized we didn't have a private room and in fact we were just out in the open in the ER. So, I made them stop everything and move as to a private room so the whole of Atlanta wasn't watching as we birth our twins. They gave me grief about cost and I told them I didn't care cause I had good insurance. We moved to our private room and preceded to give birth to the twins ( at this point I had come to my senses and relized that I would not be the pregnant one so my roles had reversed and now Joelle was the one pushing them out... not me!) . So room and Gender roles in order things continued pretty normal until the twins popped up out of Jo's belly (in a cute "jack-in-the box" kinda way, not a creepy "Aliens" way). The doctor plucked them out and handed them over to us. Then the craziest thing was that the babies were immediately 5 years old and talking to us (still in the private hospital room, still the day of their birth, they were just born at the age of 5 apparently). The only thing I remember discussing with them was their names and how they didn't like them. I don't know what names we had chosen but they really hated them so we changed them to whatever they wanted. Then I woke up!

That dream really got me thinking though, How much easier would this whole naming thing be if they babies could only tell us what they wanted to be named when they were born!?! No books of 1000 names or naming charts or Polls on blogs... Just asked the baby! What a great world it would be!

Okay that's my 2 cents for the day! I'll write more later (and maybe it'll be more coherent and less crazy dream?!)

OK, why no votes??

So, I post this baby name poll thinking it will be fun. I check it every hour to see if anyone voted and I've gotten ONE vote! Thank you to whoever that was, it means a lot to me. Now to all you others.... do you just not like ANY of the names???

I got a present for my babies...

The Crest rep was giving away free toothbrushes today so I got a Disney princess and Winnie the Pooh toothbrush! Its fun getting kid stuff. I know it'll be a while before they'll need them, but you can never start too early, especially if its free!

I also met 2 mommies of twins this week. They are both patients, one has 2 1/2 month old boy/girl twins and the other has 2 1/2 year old boy/girl twins. They have both given me lots of good tips. After listening to them for a while I noticed something... neither of them gave me real good answers to questions about night time feedings or how often they woke up, or if they woke up the other twin when the first one woke up, things like that. Thats because both of them have night nannies (they both happen to have separate day nannies too!). The one I met today actually said "you mean you're going to try to do it with out nannies?!?" and looked at me like I had 3 eyes or something. I bet neither of those women have a loving, caring, HELPFUL hubby like I do!

They both mentioned the importance of joining a Mothers Of Multiples group. Apparently there is one for North Atlanta (www.NFMOMC.org) and there is also one for intown mothers, which would be easier for me to get to but apparently isn't as big (www.intownatlantapomc.org). Both moms said the best part about a MOM group is the Consignment sales. They say you can get matching outfits brand new! I think thats really cool. I want my girleys to dress alike as often as possible. I'm sure it'll also be nice to know other twin moms and maybe join a playgroup.

Well, thats all for tonight.

Second Trimester!

Woo Hoo!! This is so exciting! At first I thought I'd never get to the second trimester, and now here it is and it seems like just yesterday we found out we were going to be a mommy and a daddy. I can hardly believe it. God is so good!!

I feel great! I do have much more energy than I did a few weeks ago and I don't feel sick any longer. And, NO SCIATIC NERVE PAIN!!! I'm almost scared to type that because I don't want to jinx myself! These precious babies are going to be here in no time -- time is flying.

I *think* I felt the babies (or one of the babies?) move tonight. I know its a little early. But I've read that its easier to feel twins earlier because there is more baby to feel. We were at small group and we were watching a little video clip and I felt something in my lower belly that I've never felt before. I don't want to dismiss it and just normal belly rumblings just in case it was in fact one of our little girls. I want to be able to remember this as the first time!

So, this is how the babies look now: Pretty cool, huh? My 14 week update says that they can grimace, squint and frown now! They can also grasp and may even be able to start sucking their thumb, a habit that I think is adorable and will strongly encourage for a little while. And, they are about the size of a lemon.

Well, thats about it for now. I do want to post a name poll because we've narrowed it down significantly but David hasn't shown me how to do that yet. A few encouraging emails might help. :o)

Lots of love, Joelle

A stranger knew I was pregnant!

Tuesday night David and I went with our friends to play trivia and a stranger commented on my belly! It was so exciting. I know I'm starting to show, with 2 in there I'm measuring about 6 weeks further than I am. It was so fun and exciting!

Daddy's Girls

Since Joelle's already let the [Female] cats outta the bag. I guess all I can do is comment... and I am SOOOO excited. Yea, I know I always said I was hopping it was 2 boys but I'm stoked that we are having twin girls. They'll still be Braves fans from the beginning when we get then their matching pink Braves onesies, but I'm not going to turn them into tom-boys (which would be hard to do with there mom constantly fueling their "girliness").
The truth is... they'll be daddy's little girls from the get go and I'll probably spoil 'em rotten. Just watching 'em move around on that ultrasound was enough to make any man tear up. What a wonderful experience it all was!

P.S.

Like the new blog decor? Pink for GIRLS!!

Ok, I'm going to start updating regularly now...

This is my commitment to you! If you feel I'm not living up to it, let me know! I want you all to share in our journey. Maybe I needed my appointment today to feel committed to writing about these precious babies on regular basis. I wanted to see them one more time, and see their little hearts beating again. Although I haven't been nervous, God does not give us a spirit of fear, afterall! I kept thinking this balloon would pop, that it was just too good to be true.

But there we were, this morning in the OB's office looking at our two perfect little babies. Their hearts were beating strong and they looked so beautiful!! You can already tell they have adorable noses.

Here are the photos from their latest photo shoot:

Can you make them out? If you can you will see that they are absolutely adorable!!!

The lower baby is baby "A", she (yes I said SHE) behaved so well, she spread her little legs and made it very clear she was a girl. She is a little harder to make out. The picture isn't quite as clear. Her head is in the upper left hand corner of the screen, she is more upright, her spine is the bright white line in the lower middle of the screen and her chest/belly is on top of that.

The top baby is baby "B", her (yes, I said HER, and we think thats right but aren't as sure as we are about baby "A") head is to the right facing up, her belly is on the left side of the picture. You can all pick on her for not giving us a better "money shot" like her sister. We'll know for sure in about 6 weeks if she really is a girl.

After our appointment we went to Target to buy something girly. We bought 2 pink burp cloths. We decided that was the safest purchase. We didn't want to buy 2 pink outfits just in case "B" turns out to be a boy. And, burp cloths are totally safe -- when spit up is involved I won't care if the color coordinates with the gender as long as it cleans up!

Well, thats all for now. But as I said, I will write more often! I'll start posting name ideas and bedding sets, so I can get opinions. Love you all!!
