2 Months Old!

I took their 2 month pictures this afternoon before David got home. I am going to try to take them again with his help to see if I can get both girls smiling. I couldn't pick my favorite, each was beautiful for one reason or another, so I'm going to post them all! Notice how red Pressy's hair looks! And in one pic Lyla is holding her head up so well!

CIO = Cry It Out

I talked to Lorren for a while today and she said she let Savannah "cry it out" today. Meaning, at naptime she let her cry til she fell asleep. It was about 20 minutes! And, Savannah is only 3 weeks old! So, I thought if Lorren can do it with her 3 wk old, I can do it with my girls. So, I just tried. Pressy went right down, didn't even make a peep and Lyla cried for 7 minutes, talked to herself for a little while and fell asleep!!

I just had to share, I'm so proud of myself for being able to handle it. Its so hard to listen to your baby cry. But I know its good for her, she will learn to sleep on her own.

Also, last night the girls slept BY THEMSELVES in their CRIB!! I slept in the glider in their room just in case they needed me, but they did great! They went down around 11, woke up at 4 and then slept again til 7. Usually I feed them (sometimes they don't even eat, i just give them a pacie) at 7 and put them right back to bed and they sleep until 9. If they do eat, they just eat a little bit. Anyway, today I got them up to start the day. I want to try and get them to go to bed before 11. We'll see if waking up earlier helps.

They are almost 2 months old, they should be getting close to sleeping trough the night and all these steps will help get us there. Pray for us though, its not easy. The worst part is just hearing them cry.

Bathtime!

I told you Lyla loved bathtime. You can see for yourself! She kept trying to drink the water -- but she didn't mind water on her face and in her eyes.

We planned to take video of Pressley too, but Lyla was screaming in the background (she was HUNGRY!) so we didn't tape very long. Next time...

2 great pictures!

I check several blogs of other multiple moms and one of them does "Wordless Wednesdays" where all she does is post a great picture. Its not Wednesday, and I have more than one picture to post. But they are both perfect!!!

Waking up this morning

I put the girls on our comforter as they woke up this morning. Pressy first, then Lyla joined and did her exercises. Made for some cute pics!

Pressley Miller

PRESSLEY MILLER
AKA: Pressy, Pressy-poo, Pretzles, Twinba (Twin-B), "little" sister, Pressley-bear (Daddy's nick name for her), Pressley-bug, Gruntey
Likes: the swing, the rainforest bouncy, the pink bouncey, sleeping on her belly, eating!!, being held, bathtime, sleeping with Mommy, riding in the car, watching TV (which I don't let them do -- but if there is a TV on, they will turn to watch it!), having a book read to her -- she loves the pictures!, sticking her tongue out
Dislikes: the playmat, tummy time, taking her medicine, being burped, waking up, getting lotion rubbed on her, getting her gunky eye cleaned out, wearing clothes

Lyla Adelaide

LYLA ADELAIDE
AKA: Lylie, Lylers, Twinna (Twin-A), Lyla-bug, buggy, Lyla-bean (this is Daddy's nickname for her), Lyma-bean, Squealey
Likes: the swing, sleeping on her belly, sleeping on her side, smiling (this is new), eating, the playmat, stretching, Daddy, Bath time!!, watching TV, the pictures over the couch
Dislikes: tummy time, the pink bouncy seat (sorry Aunt Kiki and Uncey Brenty), Pressley crying, going to bed, waking up, her pacie falling out, getting dressed

Sleeping girls

The girls sleep in a few different places. On their bellies (their favorite way to sleep!) on the couch, in the pack in play or on our bed. They NEVER sleep on their bellies at night, as much as they may want to. We let them nap on their bellies if we are in the room. Sleeping on their bellies is a SIDS risk, so I always have my eye on them. They also like to sleep in their swing, in the porta crib, on a boppy or in their bouncy seat. And they LOVE to sleep in Mommy or Daddy's arms! So, pretty much anywhere.
Lyla in the porta crib

Pressy in the swing. Look at that tongue!

Thank you ABBY!

She told me how to make my pictures smaller so I will be able to update my blog more often. All of you who enjoy my blogging should thank her! Although I bet you enjoy the pictures of the girls more than my excellent blogging skills. But, I'm ok with that.

Did you know...

you can click on the pictures I post and they will get bigger?!?

Denim Babies

We took the girls to the park Wednesday night and I put them in the warmest outfits I have -- jeans and a turtleneck onesie. Not that you can tell it has a turtleneck on either of the girls -- their faces ae so full! We had a lot of fun at the park. It cooled off quickly so David and I wore them in our Baby Bjorns and put blankets over them, they were nice and toasty.

Once we got home we took some pictures of them. Pressley was very accommodating, but Lyla was less than pleased with the whole thing. Here is a picture of Lyla crying and Pressley looking like "Would you pleasssse be quiet?"

Then Lyla calmed down a bit and they were blowing spit bubbles. And here is Pressley saying "Seriously Lyla, you call that a spit bubble?!?"

Then Lyla started crying again. And here is Pressley -- I don't need to narrate her thoughts, her face speaks for its self.
So Daddy picked up Lyla to cheer her up, Pressley waited patiently

Here is Daddy with Lyla (notice David's burn from the Masters)

And here comes Lyla, back to join Pressley. Here is how it turns out:

Oh well.

The girls visit Daddy at work

We went to visit Daddy at work last Friday. They got to see his lovely cube and everyone at his office gathered around to look at them. They enjoyed watching Pressley stare at the ceiling lights. Lyla slept the whole time but started doing her exercises (as Papa Kruithof calls them -- her stretches) towards the end and everyone laughed and laughed. It was too cute!

Pressley found her thumb!

Over this past weekend Pressley started sucking her thumb. She has a hard time getting just her thumb in her mouth, but when it works, she is in heaven! I have a feeling she may eventually trade the pacie for her thumb.

Greenville...again

We went to Greenville again! The girls got to meet the Long family!! The Longs have made such an impact on my life. They have taught me so much. Sheila has been a friend and a mother to me. She (and Clay -- of course!) has shown me how to raise well-rounded Christian children. I admire this family so much! And I remember when Eliza was the size of my children, now here she is holding my girls. Its was so special! I can't wait to visit them again this summer and have dinner on their porch.

They also got to visit with their Great Grandparents.

And Aunt Susan

And Aunt Regina

And lots of other family, like Gramma and Papa Kruithof, Grandmother and Granddaddy Turner. And, the girls made a trip to Grandmother Turner's work -- First Church of the Nazarene to meet the other pastors. It was another eventful weekend!

And, Daddy was at the Masters with his best friend, Andy, and had a GREAT time!!

How do I make pictures smaller on a Mac?

I have been dreading updating my blog because I have a TON of pictures I want to post and it takes sooooo long to upload them! About 3 minutes per picture. I have to figure out how to make my pictures smaller so they load more quickly. Then I would update more often!

First Family Grocery trip

Here we are together, about to go to the grocery store for the firs time! We did well. Got our groceries, got lots of attention, and went home.

We met Delaney!

On the way home, we stopped in Greenville for a feeding, and to meet Delaney Moore! We also got to see Grantmother and Grandaddy Turner and Aunt Regina. It worked out perfectly. Here are the girls with Delaney -- she was only 4 days old when we saw her. Oh, also in the picture is Rivers, Delaney's big brother. Once we got all the girls together he asked which one was "his". Too cute! He was very glad to hear they weren't all staying.

BIG WEEKEND!!

The girls took their second road trip and this one went much better, even though it was further. we made it to Raleigh, NC to meet Savannah, Aunt Lolo, Uncle Cole and Aunt Kiki!! Thats a 7 hour trip!! We drove to Greenville and my dad drove us to Raleigh so we could get some sleep. It worked out GREAT. The girls slept the ENTIRE way!! I fed them right before we left, they slept the whole way to Greenville. I fed them in Greenville and they slept the whole way to Raleigh -- over 4 hours! They are great car sleepers. They did the same thing on the way home. I am SO PROUD of them!!

Savannah is such a beautiful baby! You can see her here with her mommy, with Aunt Kiki (Savannah is in the pink blanket) and with her little hospital hat on. She is gorgeous!!

The girls really did great being away from home. They stuck to their schedule, even without what they "know", like their beds. They slept on blankets on the floor while we were at Lorren's house! And, we stayed in a hotel. They did great there too! We had our pack and play with us. And they slept their normal schedule through the night. It couldn't have been better.

Look at the cousins -- all 3 of them together! They don't look like they are a month apart, do they? They look like the same age. David said maybe its because gestationally they are only a week apart. Maybe. It was so neat to have all 3 together. These girls are going to share many special times together. I can't wait!!!
